Union Education – May 26, 2018

For members interested in learning more about their union there will be union education on May 26, 2018  from 9:00 to 4:30

It’s a great way to learn more about your union. Registered participants will receive a $50 per diem. If you need childcare please contact the Saskatoon Regional Office at (306) 244-3033.  When you register our component is Directly Chartered Local and our Local is 40004.

Annual General Meeting – March 26

Our Annual General Meeting will be held on March 26th at 3:30pm in Arts 263.
The meeting is open to all PSAC Local 40004 members.  Your executive encourages all postdoctoral fellows and graduate student workers to attend so that you can find out what is happening with your union.

The AGM is the time to elect our Executive Officers for the coming year.  Your Executive positions are:

  • President
  • Vice President Graduate Student Workers
  • Vice President Postdoctoral Fellows
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Chief Steward
If you are interested in a position or have questions send your union an email!

We will also be presenting proposed revisions to the bylaws and reporting on union activity in the past year.  There will be an update on PDF bargaining.

Executive resignation & Union Pancake breakfast

Dear Members,

Executive resignation

I am resigning from the local presidency effective this morning, when Seth Dueck will take over. Seth is currently serving as the Union Vice President and on the bargaining team. Seth is committed to working for better working conditions for all graduate students on campus and will be an effective advocate for you. It’s been my privilege to serve as president, and I hope you will all support Seth in his new role.

Agenda and Proposed Bylaws for AGM

The agenda for our March 30th AGM is available (here) along with our proposed bylaws (here). We will be voting on whether to approve these bylaws as circulated at our AGM.  The bylaws also contain descriptions of the duties for our four executive positions (President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer).  If you have any questions about these duties please feel free to contact us!  Nominations for these positions can be sent to our email or can happen during the AGM.  Please attend the AGM and consider letting your name stand for nomination.
